(Concord, NC) April 21, 2008 -- For the third straight race Tom Hessert III had the #1 MAACO/Boudreaux’s Buttpaste Ford Fusion toward the front of the field, holding tight to the 3rd spot as laps were clicking towards the halfway point. The previous day’s rain forced the ARCA RE/MAX officials to set the starting field for the Prairie Meadows 250 by 2007 owner points, relegating Hessert to the 12th spot, his lowest start to date in 2008. Hessert brought the car in for scheduled service, getting four fresh tires and fuel, and returned to the track ready to battle to the lead until a cut right front tire forced an unscheduled green flag stop on lap 92. “I don’t know whether we ran over debris or what, but I felt a tire going down and we had to come in and changed tires,” said Hessert. “We were running really well on that restart and the guys gave me another great car this week so we did what we could go get back out and protect our points run.” Hessert lost two laps in the pits but battled back, trying to get into position to regain laps and get the #1 MAACO Ford back onto the lead lap. “We got one of our laps back and needed a late race caution to get back on the lead lap and it just didn’t come our way. We still came out of it with a good day and kept our points position, so we’ll go onto Kansas and hope for a good run there. “ “Overall we had a good day,” said Andy Belmont. “It was a good points day, we had a great race car, clean pits stops and Tom and the crew showed they can overcome adversity for a good finish. There’s not a mark on the car, which helps us to move forward to Kansas without being in a hole. “ |
