Grant Enfinger to Pilot #14 ABR Ford Fusion for 2nd Career ARCA Start
(Concord, NC) April 22, 2008 -- Fairhope, Alabama native Grant Enfinger has been tapped to pilot the #14 Ford Fusion for Andy Belmont Racing this weekend in the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand at Kansas Speedway. Enfinger made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut last Saturday at Iowa in the Prairie Meadows 250 where he qualified 21st and finished 39th after a failed master cylinder. Enfinger has been working at the ABR shop since early this season, learning the ropes of ARCA RE/MAX Series competition from the ground up. “I have a tremendous desire to learn the ropes of the ARCA Series and Andy Belmont Racing has given me a great opportunity,” said. I’ve done so many things so far, including fab work, electrical, body work, preparing the car for qualifying- I’ve even driven the transporter. Now I can actually get behind the wheel. That’s why I came to ARCA- to have the chance to learn all the different processes of competition from the ground up. I didn’t want to be pigeon-holed into a specialization.” Grant Enfinger’s driving experience includes super late models, Legends cars and go carts. “I definitely have a learning curve with these larger, heavier stock cars but the biggest thing is the tracks. I just haven’t been on big, fast tracks like these and am really counting on all the help I can get from Andy and Tom Hessert on how to get around Kansas. I’ve never raced on a mile and a half before-so far Iowa last weekend was the biggest track I’ve been on.” “This kid is a good race car driver,” said Andy Belmont. “I was impressed with his first ARCA attempt last weekend in Iowa. Just a few laps in the car had a problem. Grant was smart enough to recognize there was a problem and brought the car in. Turned out we blew a master cylinder. I am really impressed with his ability and feel we are fortunate to have stumbled onto another talented driver. So we’re going on to Kansas and put him in the car there and see how he does.” “My goal for the race on Friday is to learn the best way around the track and hopefully to qualify in the top 20. If we can just stay out all day, stay out of trouble and bring home a clean race car I’d be very happy,” said Enfinger. |
